This blog describes my life in Ghana, where I was from February 2006 until October 2007, and in Malawi, where I'll be until April 2008. I'm on my second long-term placement volunteering for Engineers Without Borders Canada (EWB).

We will be visiting Ghana on a medical mission to provide primary care at several villages. What does Engineers without Borders do in northern Ghana? - Maggie
Hi Maggie,
In northern Ghana, Engineers Without Borders mainly provides support to local governmental institutions like the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. We help them develop their skills in project management, planning, monitoring and evaluation, stakeholder facilitation and more.
Basically we're helping to increase the capacities of the permanent institutions that are working towards Ghana's development.
We don't do anything specifically related to disaster relief -- we work in long-term development.
EWB's strategy is a bit different in other countries. If you're interested, you can find out more at www.ewb.ca.
Dear Luke - We are leaving this weekend for Ghana. I read that the rains were a problem in the north where we are going. Are the roads passable?
Best Regards,
Maggie
